Honda is set to return to its performance roots with a new performance-oriented range spearheaded by the new 208kW 415N turbo 2-liter Civic Type R said to accelerate to 100km/h in well under 5.8 seconds for over 260km/h top speed. It’s one of a trio of new low friction direct petrol injection VTEC Turbo Honda Earth Dreams Tech mills set to deliver a blend of high performance and efficiency in a one-liter three cylinder, a 1.5-liter four-pot and the range-topping 2-litre four. A new 1.6-litre diesel and fresh hybrid tech are also due within three years to deliver ‘dynamic performance, as well as class-leading output and fuel economy’.
