Celebration model brings in a longer
equipment list
Audi have been on a roll, which has helped
them make their way to the very top of the Indian luxury car market, snapping
up the lead in sales to become number one in India. This was helped in no small
measure by recent launches and timely updates, the likes of the Audi Q3 and the
facelift A4 sedan. Audi have sold 6,000 units of the A6 executive saloon over
the past six years and to celebrate this accomplishment, Audi India have
introduced an A6 Special Edition.

A6 Special Edition front
The new Audi A6 has already claimed the
prestigious ‘World Car of the Year’ award and the new model adds not just more
value, but also an extended list of equipment, which, until now, was quite
unheard of in the segment in India. When launched, the new A6 went up against
the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, apart from the Jaguar XF and Volvo
S80. It already had a strong line-up of two petrol and two diesel motors at
launch and there was also a long list of options available.

A6 Special Edition side
We drove the new A6 on the Jaipur-Agra
highway and found it to be incredibly refined. Its NVH levels are, as with
other Audi offerings, top class and we found the car great fun to drive.
Buyers of the A6 Special Edition now have a
choice of the 2.0 TDi four-cylinder diesel or the 3.0 TDi diesel with Quattro
all-wheel-drive. Whichever engine you choose, you will receive unique upgrades
such as Audi’s “adaptive air suspension system”, which allows active suspension
management on account of its controlled damping abilities. A four-zone deluxe
air-conditioning system, letting the front and rear occupants set up the
climate to their individual preferences; Xenon plus headlamps with LED
technology and LED tail-lamps; the Multimedia Interface (MMI) radio with a
6.5-inch display, while Rear Side Airbags provide added protection to the rear
seat occupants in case of a mishap.

The Premium Plus grade and available ‘fond’
package add even more kit to the list. The MMI can be upgraded to the ‘Touch’
system with an eight-inch display and a remote control, which make going
through vehicle, communication and media settings an absolute breeze. The Front
Co-driver Seat adjustment is made possible for rear seat passengers, a feature
from the China-only A6 Long Wheelbase model, which makes it easier to get more
comfortable should you need more room. A ‘Comfort Key’ increases safety with
easier keyless access and operation. Full LED headlamps offer far better
illumination and are also more efficient. For an enhanced multimedia experience,
there’s a Bose surround-sound system as well as rear entertainment system, both
available as an option.
The A6 Special Edition is available
starting from $773,711.
