If you feel that the standard RS 6 specification is less than you might expect, there are plenty of ways in which you can upgrade it. The dynamic package, at $3,450, increases the top speed limit to 174 mph, and includes dynamic steering, and all-LED headlights. The Dynamic Plus package lifts the top speed limiter to 189 mph and gives you ceramic brakes in addition to the other dynamic pack features. This option costs $17,834. The cost of the test car was inflated by about $8,314 due to the cost of the optional wheels, adaptive cruise control, LED headlamps, reversing camera and heat insulating glass.

There is no doubt that the RS 6 Avant is an exceptionally fast car, with an outstanding combination of responsive handling and comfortable ride. This is allied to a body which provides a luxurious interior, yet one which is also immensely practical. So how good is it to drive and live with?

In almost every respect, the RS 6 Avant is outstanding.

In almost every respect, the RS 6 Avant is outstanding. It is enormously fast, comfortable, luxurious, practical and a joy to drive quickly. One has to remember, though, that this is a relatively big, heavy car and one is very aware of this when driving fast, and this can take the edge off one’s enjoyment. You won’t get as much pleasure driving the RS 6 along winding roads as, say, an RS 4, simply because you are so aware of its bulk. It is easy to see where the true home of the RS 6 is: this is a car designed for the German autobahn system, where you can make full use of its high-speed cruising ability, and rely on its immense acceleration to sweep you past even fast-moving traffic.
