Due to its lightweight form factor (40g) and support for a wide range of mobile networks used in a number different countries (Singapore included, obviously), the PLE 901 is ideal for students, business travelers and tourists who require fast, dedicated Internet speeds on the go.

However, this USB modem only supports full-sized SIM cards, though those of you with either micro- or nano-SIMs could get by with an adapter.

ProLink claims that the USB modem is able to support LTE (Category 3) download and upload speeds up to 100Mbps and 50 Mbps respectively. Using a SingTel 4G SIM card indoors, we ran the Speedtest.net benchmark and achieved download and upload speeds of 31.59 Mbps and 13.58 Mbps respectively. We also did an indoor test by loading a 720p YouTube video, and the top download speed attained was 2.72 MB/s.

Setting up the PLE 901 is relatively easy and fast - it took less than a minute to get a working connection on our test laptop.

The PLE 901 can also double as a micro-SD card reader or thumb drive as you can slot in memory cards up to 64 GB in storage capacity. You can access both the SIM and micro-SD card slots by sliding aside the front cover, while removing the modem cap reveals the USB connector.
