Adobe InDesign CS5 : Working with Objects and Layers - Repeating Object Transformations
When you perform a transformation on an object, InDesign remembers your choices, which allows you to repeat the transformation again on another object. With the commands on the Transform Again submenu on the Object menu, you can repeat transformations individually or as a sequence.
Adobe InDesign CS5 : Working with Objects and Layers - Arranging Object Stack Order, Transforming Objects
Multiple objects on a document appear in a stacking order, like layers of transparencies. Stacking is the placement of objects one on top of another. In other words, the first object that you draw is on the bottom and the last object that you draw is on top.
Adobe InDesign CS5 : Working with Objects and Layers - Distributing Objects
To evenly align several objects to each other across the document, either horizontally or vertically, select them and then choose a distribution option. For a quick alternative, you can use Live Distribute (New!) to evenly create space between objects proportionally.
Adobe Illustrator CS5 : Working with Objects - Using the Free Transform Tool
The Free Transform tool allows you to rotate, scale (resize), reflect (mirror image), or shear (slant) an object. In addition, you can apply perspective and distortion to an object.
Adobe Illustrator CS5 : Working with Objects - Aligning and Distributing Objects, Transforming Objects
In addition to using grids and guides to align objects to a specific point, you can align a group of objects to each other. The Align panel buttons make it easy to align two or more objects relative to each other or to the page.
Corel Painter X : Drawing People - People in a Scene (part 2) - Saltwatercolor
We’ll choose brushes from the Digital Watercolor category, and then plunge in a bit deeper than we did with the Spring Flowers project in the previous lesson. Applying the Watercolor Color Scheme from the Underpainting Palette produces the effect in Figure 4.
Corel Painter X : Drawing People - People in a Scene (part 1)
Painter provides most of the same tools for editing photos that you’ll find in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, though some are named and organized a bit differently.
CorelDRAW X5 : Navigation and Page Setup - Working with Views of a Document's Depth: Layers
CorelDRAW’s layer feature provides invaluable ways not only to organize but also to view complex drawings. You can create several layers and move shapes between layers.
CorelDRAW X5 : Navigation and Page Setup - Using the View Manager Docker
Imagine a bookmark feature in CorelDRAW that takes you to a location and viewing resolution on one or more pages just by clicking the link.
CorelDRAW X5 : Navigation and Page Setup - Special View Modes, Using the View Navigator
Other types of views are found in CorelDRAW. In addition to viewing quality and resolution, you might have the need to change the page order in a multi-page document for a tidier presentation. Hey, you could certainly do with a preview setting that eliminates the workspace and puts the focus on your artwork!
CorelDraw 10 : Copying Objects
There are two ways to copy an object: copy it to the Windows Clipboard (and then paste it into the document) or duplicate it. The result is the same, but the amount of computing power used for the two procedures is different.
CorelDraw 10 : Moving Objects
CorelDraw 10 provides three ways for you to reposition objects: dragging, nudging (pressing the arrow keys), or entering different page coordinates.
CorelDraw 10 : Selecting Objects
Before you can change the size, fill, or other properties of an object, you must first select it. You use the Pick Tool to select objects and to manipulate an object's handles. Handles are the black squares that appear around a selected object.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 : Working with Web Page Tables - Importing and Exporting Table Data
Instead of retyping data in a table that you have in another document, such as Microsoft Excel, you can import it into a table in Dreamweaver. The tabular data needs to be saved in a delimited text format with items separated by tabs, commas, colons, or semicolons.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 : Working with Web Page Tables - Adding Content into a Table
After you finishing creating the table layout and cells, you can insert content. You can add text, images, and other data in Standard or Expanded Table modes. Simply click in the cell where you want to add material, and then type, paste, or insert the content you want.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 : Working with Web Page Tables - Modifying a Table
After you create the initial table and cells, you can select, resize, move, or even delete the table and cells to fine tune it. When you move or resize a cell in a table, there are a few things you need to avoid.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 : Working with Layers - Linking and Unlinking Layers
If you’re currently looking at the Layers panel, and wondering where the linking button is, don’t worry. It’s not missing; it’s just been moved. Linking multiple layers is a snap. Simply select one or more layers and then click the Link Layers button at the bottom of the Layers panel.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 : Working with Layers - Using Merge Layer Options
The Merge Down option lets you merge one selected layer into the layer directly below it in the layer stacking order. Merged layers take on the characteristics of the layer into which they are being merged.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 : Working with Layers - Controlling Image Information Using the Layers Panel, Moving Layers Between Documents
Photoshop documents typically contain multiple layers. One web survey concluded that Photoshop designers tend to create documents with an average of 14 layers.
Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 : Animating State Change Transitions
Transitions between states can be animated. Catalyst includes a set of pre-built animation effects that can be used in transitions. After you add an interaction to trigger a state change, the effected states appear on the Timelines panel. You can increase or decrease the time each transition takes and choose the effect to be played.
Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 : Trigger View State Changes with Buttons
In order to allow your user to move from one state to the next, you need to add an interaction to an element in the application. Almost any component can be used for this interaction, but the most commonly used one will be a button.
Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 : Components with Built-in View States
These states define the appearance of the component during various expected user interactions. View state changes within these components are automatic; you need not specifically add the ability for a button to change from the Up to the Over state when the user interacts with it.
Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 : Create New States within a Component
If you have a subscription or order form that spans multiple pages, you would likely encapsulate the form in a custom component, and then have the component contain multiple states to represent the pages of the application.
Adobe After Effects CS5 : Animating Text - Adding motion blur, Exporting to Adobe Flash Professional CS5
If After Effects can’t export an element of a composition as unrendered data, it either ignores the element or renders it into a PNG or FLV item, depending on whether you choose to ignore unsupported features.
Adobe After Effects CS5 : Animating Text - Animating a nontext layer along a motion path
To cap off this project, you’ll use a mask from a text layer to animate a nontext layer. Specifically, you’ll use the mask shape for the directed by path to create a motion path for a car graphic so that it appears to be pulling the text. First, you’ll import the car graphic and add it to your composition.
Adobe After Effects CS5 : Animating Text - Cleaning up the path animation
Currently, the words directed by fade in and out as they wind along the Pipes path preset. You’ll modify the text properties so that the words are opaque for the entire animation and come to a rest just above your name.
Adobe Fireworks CS5 : Working with Vector Graphics - Drawing the shape
You will do your best to imitate the shape shown in the following figure. It’s made up of a series of straight anchor point segments. This is a custom shape, so don’t worry if you don’t create an exact match.
Adobe Fireworks CS5 : Working with Vector Graphics - Editing paths
Creating paths and shapes is empowering (and fun!), but it’s only half the battle. Knowing how to edit vectors—that is, to be able to customize them—is equally important.
Adobe Flash Professional CS5 : Working Within the Flash Environment - Docking and Undocking Panels, Grouping and Ungrouping Panels
You can dock and undock, or temporarily attach and detach, panels or panel groups. You can display panels using the Window menu, and then drag them around the program window to dock or undock them to other panels.
Adobe Flash Professional CS5 : Working Within the Flash Environment - Working with Panels
Panels are windows that allow you to view, organize, and change elements and related options in a document. In Flash, you work with several panel windows at one time. Instead of continually moving, resizing, or opening and closing windows, you can collapse or expand individual panels within a window with a single click to save space.
