One of the amazing features of smartphones like the
BlackBerry is the ability to browse the web right from your handheld.
More and more web sites are now supporting mobile browser formatting.
These sites sense you are viewing them from a small mobile browser and
automatically reconfigure themselves for your BlackBerry so they load
quickly—some even quicker than their desktop counterparts.
1. Using Alternative Web Browsers
The native web browser may seem slow to some people,
so vendors are creating alternative web browsers for your BlackBerry.
RIM, BlackBerry's maker, has recently purchased a web browser
development company so we may see an overhaul of the BlackBerry browser
in the coming months.
We have seen several alternatives to the native
BlackBerry web browser appear on the market. A couple of the more
notable ones recently have been Opera Mini (www.opera.com/mini or m.opera.com) and Bolt Browser (www.boltbrowser.com).
We have not extensively tested them, but they do keep improving the
look, feel, and performance of the overall web browsing experience. You
can locate these browsers and other alternatives by performing a web
search for "BlackBerry Bold web browser" or "BlackBerry web browser."
2. Locating the Web Browser from the Home Screen
Web browsing can actually start with a few of the
icons on your home screen. The easiest way to get started is to press
the hotkey B for the Internet Browser or W for the WAP Browser. Or, you can find the Browser icon; it looks like a globe.
Use the trackpad to navigate to the Browser icon and click it. It might say Browser, BlackBerry Browser, or Internet Browser or even something different like mLife or T-Zone.
You will either be taken directly to the home screen of your particular carrier or to your list of bookmarks.
The start page is nice because on a single screen, it allows you to

You can set your customized home page to anything you want (e.g. www.google.com as it is here).
3. Speed Up Your Browser by Clearing the Browser Cache
You can really speed up your web browser by periodically clearing out the cache.
