The People hub is the Windows Phone 8 contact list. You access it by tapping the People tile on your Start screen or by using your phone’s Apps list. Unlike a normal contact list, however, the People hub displays contacts from multiple sources. For example, it can simultaneously display contacts from Outlook, Gmail, Facebook, and more.

The People hub contains four screens.:

All: The All screen lists all your contacts from all your accounts.

Recent: The Recent screen displays contacts with whom you have recently been in contact. The Recent page remains hidden until the first time you interact with one of your contacts.

What’s New: The What’s New screen displays the most recent posts from your connected social networks.

Together: The Together screen provides access to the new Rooms and Groups features.

Windows Phone 8 displays the profile information for all your contacts in a single place, regardless of whether the contacts are from a Microsoft account, Hotmail, Twitter, or somewhere else. The profile information for a person contains basic contact information, but it also can contain additional information, such as birthdays and children’s names.

Whenever you connect your phone to a social networking site, your “friends” on that site are automatically synchronized to the phone’s People hub. The same holds true for any email accounts that you set up on the phone. When you connect Windows Phone 8 to a mailbox, the contacts associated with that mailbox are added to your phone’s People hub.

Viewing a Profile

If you want to view the profile information for one of your contacts, you can do so by opening the People hub and following these steps:

1. Scroll through the list of contacts and tap the person whose profile you want to view.

2. Any information about the contact you selected appears on the Profile screen.
