The People app is a flat file contact database—a rich address book that can draw information from multiple sources (called accounts), consolidating contact data from your email and from sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. People creates a unified contact card for each person you know and helps you keep track of activities associated with those people.

People is really too rich to fully explore here, so consider this just a taste of what is possible.

To add a contact to People

1. Tap or click the People tile on the Start screen .

The People picker lets you send email, map the address for a contact, and maintain the contact’s information.

7. Tap or click the Send Email button to open the Mail app with a message already started.

8. Tap the Map Address button to open the Maps app and see the location of the contact’s address.

9. Tap the View Profile button to see complete contact information .

Tip

The People app can use the tile-based interface secondary tiles feature. Select a person’s tile in People and use the Pin To Start button to place that tile on your Start screen. The tile is live and displays information like incoming emails and newly posted photos. One click takes you to that person’s contact card; a second click lets you view their photos or send them an email.
