You can use the Set Up a Connection or Network wizard in any of the following scenarios:

• To connect to the Internet via broadband or dialup (modem)

• To set up a new network connection through a router or access point

• To manually connect to a hidden wireless network or create a new wireless profile

• To connect to a business network using either a dial-up or virtual private network (VPN) connection

You will usually only have to do this once, when you connect to a network or configure your router or access point the first time. The Set up a new network link  polls your network to find available routers, modems, and access points that you can connect to.
