Creating a new e-mail address for a new user account

If you do not have an e-mail address, you can set one up as you create a new Microsoft user account. To do this, click Add A User Account at the Manage Accounts page and then click the Sign Up For A New Email Address link on the Add A User page (see Figure 3 for this link). The Sign Up For A New Email Address page appears, as shown in Figure 5.

Windows 8 enables you to set up a new Hotmail or Live.com e-mail address. Enter an e-mail address and then select Hotmail.com or Live.com from the drop-down list. Enter a new password (re-enter the password as well), your first and last names, your country, and your ZIP code. Click Next to show the Add Security Verification Info page, as shown in Figure 6. Here you can enter mobile phone information, an alternate e-mail address, and a secret question/response in case you need to recover your password. You must provide at least two of the three verification methods to continue.

Click Next to display the Finish Up page, as show in Figure 7. Enter your Birth date, Gender, and a list of characters and/or words to ensure that a human is filling out the Microsoft account page. Click Next and then click Finish to complete the new Microsoft account setup procedure. You’re returned to the previous Manage Accounts page or the Users Settings page, where you see that the new user account has been added to the system.
