Kanye
West recently unveiled his second collaboration collection with French label
A.P.C. and has spoken alongside the label's designer Jean Touitou about
his new designs. When asked if his love for fashion is as strong as his passion
for music, Kanye says that it is just all about being creative as an artist:
"I just love creating... music, fashion, architecture, art... I'm addicted
to dreams. Clothing or stage design or an album, it's all art projects, and
life is art."
The
label only produced 8 pieces in the first collaboration and Jean comments that
although there are more comprehensive looks featured in the second
collaboration, he still had to hold Kanye back from having too much because
there was so many things he wanted to include: "Yes, it's much more this
time, we are doing much more together. Sometimes I had the difficult task of
holding back Kanye's creativity but we always found a middle-ground."
Although
Kanye may have a reputation for being difficult to work with and very
demanding, Jean insists that it wasn't the case with their partnership. He
states that he didn't have a problem with the way the rapper worked besides
that he worked very hard right up until the last minute before the collection
launched which put them under pressure for time: "No. I didn't find that.
What was difficult was that he was working right up to the very, very last
minute. It's true Kanye is a maximalist, but he is also a minimalist, he's
a mix of the two. It's like fire and water."
