To get to any web page, you can either type it on your start page or press the Menu key and select Go To... from the menu.

The address bar comes up with the http://www. in place, waiting for you to type the rest of the address.

Pressing the Delete key will quickly erase the www. but leave the http://.

Simply, type in the web address (remember, pushing the Space key will put in the dot (.).

Pressing Shift + Space is the shortcut to type a slash (/), as in www.google.com/gmm (the address to download Google Maps application at the time of this writing).

The first thing you see on the top of the start page will be the web address line. Then you will see your Bookmarks and history of recently visited pages. Click any Bookmark or History item to instantly jump to it.

As you start typing a web address, any similar addresses instantly are shown below.

Gide down and click the address you want as soon as you see it in the list.

If necessary, type a few more letters to narrow the list of web addresses shown.

To edit the address in the drop-down list, glide down to it and glide to the right with the trackpad to change it in the top window.

Press the Enter key or click the trackpad to go to the selected web page or history item.

1. Browser Menu Options

While in the Browser application, press the Menu key, and the following options are available to you:

  • Help: See on-screen text help for the Web Browser, useful when you forget something and need quick help.

  • Column View/Page View: Toggle between the two views (hotkey: Z). Column view offers are more zoomed in view. Page view gives you a view of the entire page, more like a PC web browser.

  • Zoom In: Zoom in multiple times to see text more clearly (hotkey: I).

  • Zoom Out: Zoom out to see more of the page (hotkey: O).

  • Find: Search for text on a web page (hotkey: F / V).

  • Find Next: Search for the next occurrence of the last Find.

  • Home: Go to the browser home page (hotkey: H). You can set or change the browser home page inside the Browser => Option screen.

  • Go To...: Type a specific web address for browsing. See page 463 for details (hotkey: G).

  • Recent Pages: View the most recent web pages browsed.

  • History: Show your entire web browsing history (hotkey: Y).

  • Refresh: Update the current web page (hotkey: R).

  • Set Encoding: Change character encoding of web browsing with this advanced feature. (You probably won't need to use this.)

  • Add Bookmark: Set the current page as a favorite or bookmark (Hotkey: A). This one is extremely useful.

  • Bookmarks: Lists all your bookmarks (hotkey: K). This one is also Extremely useful.

  • Page Address: Show you the full web address of the current page (hotkey: P).

  • Send Address: Send the current page address to a contact.

  • Options: Set the browser configuration, properties, and cache settings (hotkey: S).

  • Save Page: Save the page as a file accessible from your Messages icon (your email inbox).

  • Switch Application: Jump or multitask over to other applications while leaving the current web page open (hotkey: D jumps to home screen).

  • Close: Close the web browser and exit to the home screen (hotkey: Press and hold Escape key).

NOTE

These hotkeys work only while you are viewing web page and only if the cursor is not in an input (typing) field. If the cursor is in the Google search field, for example, typing these hotkey letters will only show you the letters, not perform the command.
