2015-2016 New Cards List For You (Part 7)

BMW i3

Base Price $42,275-$46,125

Body Type Hatchback

Unchanged Introduced as a 2014 model, the mostly carbon-fiber hatchback boasts an interior made up primarily of sustainable materials, and it can travel up to about 100 miles on one charge. An optional gasoline-powered two-cylinder range extender increases that distance, but doesn't directly power the wheels.

Cool Fact The i3's driving range can be increased by up to 12 percent in Eco Pro mode.

A gasoline-fed turbocharged three-cylinder pairs with two electric motors for a net output of 362 hp. Carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic is used throughout the car, contributing to its relatively light weight.

Cool Fact Electronic amplification makes the three-cylinder engine note

BMW Z4

Base Price $49,900-$66,750

Minor The Z4 heads into the 2015 model year mostly unchanged. The biggest change is that the 6-speed manual transmission is no longer available on the mid-level sDrive35i. Those who want to row their own in a BMW while the sun beats down upon them are limited to the entry-level sDrive28i. You can’t stop progress.

Look For The long-rumored Z2, a small, no frills two-seat convert¬ible to reignite BMW’s love affair with the roadster.
