Typical aftermarket is two springs- one gas, one diesel, which didn’t used to be quite as much of a problem when you were dealing with coils in the front and leaves in the rear. Now with the 2500 going to rear coils and the 3500 getting air-assist options, the frequency tuning becomes really important.” AEV’s logical resolution was to build everything around the stock springs, which the company felt was the optimum solution for an expedition, general off-road use, and everyday use truck. At both ends the company installed Bilstein 5160 remote-reservoir shocks, and height is accomplished via aluminum coil spacers. “In this case, the shocks are custom-tuned remote-reservoir Bilstein’s and there is a lot of suspension bracketry that changes all the geometry for the performance like we are known for. Roll center and steering angles were two areas we were able to make drastic improvements,” Harriton says. Bracketry changes were made to the front track bar, rear track bar, and radius arms.

3.  The stock 3.42 gears and open differential have been removed from the AAM 9.25-inch front axle and replaced with Mopar 4.10 gears and an ARB Air Locker. AEV’s Steering Correction Kit has been added and it includes a new forged drag link and pan hard bar relocation brackets.

4.  Out back, the stock AAM 11.5-inch axle was gutted and the factory limited-slip differential and 3.42 gears were replaced with an ARB Air Locker and Mopar 4.10 gears. The rear suspension was raised 2 inches and the system includes aluminum coil spacers and custom-tuned Bilstein 5160 remote-reservoir shocks.

Every interior detail of Ram Heavy Duty trucks is crafted to give owners distinct comfort, convenience and drivability.

5.  The interior’s biggest mod is the custom AEV leather seating, which replaces the truck’s factory cloth seating surfaces. The black leather seats sport red stitching and the AEV logo in each headrest.

6.  AEV wanted the ARB Air Locker switches to be easily accessible, but discreetly mounted, so they were installed on the driver-side of the center console.

7.  One of the most prominent exterior mods is the AEV Stamped Front Bumper. AEV says that a quick Google search of “Ram bumper” indicated that there was probably a market for a stamped steel bumper because there was simply nothing else like it in the market. Harriton says, “We felt that a lot of customers didn’t want what was currently available and those customers aren’t buying what is available. We’d like to think we expanded the bumper market for the Ram.” The bumper offers a number of features including a winch mount (in this case holding a Warn 16.5ti unit), light ports (housing a pair of Vision X 6550 HID lights), and a pair of shackle mounts. AEV says that bumper utilizes a unique modular design that allows for a variety of functional and styling options and it will be available to fit a full range of Ram truck models.

8.  Looking down on the top of the AEV bumper you can see how the company designed the bumper so the winch drum was visible and easily accessible.
