Mercedes-Benz turn the S-Class into a
technological wonder
We had to wait a long time to see this and
when it was finally unveiled, it simply looked marvelous. We are referring to
the new S-Class that has so many new features and innovations that we think it
won’t be wrong to call it ‘tech on wheels’.
Mercedes-Benz have left no stone unturned
to make the new S-Class a truly modern car with a touch of futuristic elements.
Firstly, the design of this marvelous car. Mercedes have spent a lot of time
fine-tuning the aerodynamics of the car, which has resulted in this beautifully
sculpted S-Class that has a drag co-efficient of just 0.24 Cd. The ultra-modern
exterior looks fresh and will appeal to young buyers as well. The new S-Class
retains its dominating front grille and big headlamps, which now come with only
LEDs for low power consumption. The overall design of the new S-Class truly
looks luxurious and breathtaking.
Mercedes-Benz
turn the S-Class into a technological wonder
The same story continues on the inside as
well where the company has fitted a new host of features. Mercedes-Benz have
fired massaging seats that replicate the rejuvenating effect of a hot stone
treatment and the best part is that you can order an S-Class which will have
heated steering wheel and arm-rests.
The first thing you will notice when you
get inside the new S-Class is that there is no instrument panel. Instead, you
will find a screen where the instrument console should have been. Mercedes-Benz
have gone digital with the new S. What’s more, the center console also gets a
giant screen, just above the air-con vents, that displays an array of
information related to the car and to the audio system. And to control major
functions, Mercedes have fitted a rotary dial that lets you fiddle around with
various infotainment features.
New
Mercedes-Benz S-Class side
A technologically brilliant feature in the
new S is its suspension system that ‘secs’ the road. This system is very
complex and it uses a stereo camera that monitors the road surface and adjusts
the air suspension accordingly. This feature of the new S is standard across
the range. Safety is also taken care of as the Pre- Safe system, which
anticipates and tries to avoid accidents, is updated The scat-belts in the new
S come with air-bags that reduce the strain on the occupant’s rib-cage in case
of an accident. The new S has sensors all round and a radar system that
constantly monitors the traffic around and helps in maintaining a safe distance
from the cars around you.
There are a host of other features in the
new S-Class and we shall dwell on those at length once the company launches
this car in India.
New
Mercedes-Benz S-Class back
Incoming: A-class
Mercedes-Benz are soon going to launch the
much-awaited entry-level premium hatchback, A-Class, in India. This new car is
aimed at the youngsters and Mercedes-Benz hope that the A-Class will help the
company to attract more customers by launching this car in India. We expect the
company to launch the A-Class with a price-tag of about $334,000 - $501,000,
which is quite steep for a premium hot hatch.
GLA on the cards
Mercedes-Benz are getting pretty serious
about emerging markets and the proof of this is the new GLA compact SUV which
will enter production very soon. The GLA was just a concept when it was first
shown at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show and the production version is going to be
almost identical to the concept. And the good news is that this new compact SUV
will come to India and it will compete with the likes of the BMW Xi and Audi Q.

Big investment by MERC
Mercedes-Benz are all set to invest
$417,500,000 in their Chakan plant, near Pune, in order to double the
production capacity. The current output of the Chakan facility is about 10,000
