It is a thoroughbred driver's car. In the
'Sport' mode the suspension stiffens up and the steering becomes more direct
and weighs up nicely. The handling is very sharp and the steering is comparatively
not very heavy and, at the same time, it delivers excellent feedback, so you
can direct the car precisely where you want it to be.
Well-designed
exhaust system make the Audi R8 V10 look aggressive
The aluminium wishbone suspension and the chassis
have been intentionally tuned for highly dynamic driving, yet the R8 is more
comfortable when compared to other serious sports cars. This is mainly due to
Audi's magnetic ride system that adapts the response of the shock-absorbers to
the requirements of the driver and the road. Driving through a fast series of
turns the R8 darted like a tiger after its prey. There was no body-roll or sign
of under-steer as the all-wheel-drive quattro detects it and sorts it out
before the feeling can reach the driver. The new 19-inch wheels (29S/30ZRI9)
not just enhance the car's visual appeal, but using quattro stick to the tarmac
like leeches throughout the fastest of turns, helping me get better exit speed
and offering unparalleled control.
The
V10 comes with a sweet-looking and lighter set of alloy wheels
After your fill of some spirited driving,
as you head home, just switch to the 'Comfort' driving mode and the steering
becomes lighter, while the suspension softens up for a more relaxed journey.
Driving on regular Indian roads the R8 offered fairly supple ride for a sports
car unlike the usual bone-rattling experience from some of its competitors.
Even without a ground clearance of an SUV, the Audi did manage to overcome most
speed-bumps without scraping its underbelly.
New
tail-lamp have dynamic turn indicators that streaks across in the direction of
the turn
The new car also gets some cosmetic
enhancements, like the Audi's trademark LED headlamps and new tail-lamp with
dynamic turn indicators streaks across in the direction of the turn. The other
new features include a single-frame grille with tapered corners at the top,
re-profiled diffuser and a set of very attractive round tail-pipes. The
engineers continue their pursuit of making the R8 as light as possible, for
which they offer optional bolt-on body parts made of carbon-fibre. The
four-ring emblem has moved from the grille and now is positioned on the bonnet
to make the car appear lower and meaner. A major change in the side profile of
the Audi is that the distinct side blades around the large air-intake have been
discarded. The overall low and wide design of the car, with the aggressive
forward stance and the V10 flexing its muscles from the see-through boot-lid is
very futuristic and seems to be ahead of its time.
The
Audi R8 V10’s engine turns in an impressive all-round performance
Slide into the cabin and you are greeted
with top-notch material and the benchmark Audi craftsmanship. Like a luxury
car, the R8 surrounds you in luxury, be it the high-grade nappa leather seat,
chrome rimmed dials and classic gear shifter or the ultra-fine material used in
the cabin.
The Audi R8 V10 is a car that respects your
command and offers you breath-taking performance when you want it. It also
behaves well when you want it to potter around town as you flaunt it to your
compatriots. If you are an enthusiast and can afford this, then I can't think
of another sports car to match its performance and practicality.
