To show your wireless network’s estimated data usage

1. Open the Networks bar . Tap and hold, or right-click, the wireless network to which you are connected.

The pop-up menu appears.

2. Select the Show Estimated Data Usage command; Windows 8 displays the usage statistics .

 The estimated data transferred since you last reset the counter is shown in MB.

This same setting may be found in the Devices section of the PC Settings page (which you can access from the Settings charm).

To turn airplane mode on or off

Open the Networks bar and move the Airplane Mode slider to On or Off, as desired.

 Airplane mode is available only when you are wirelessly connected.


Tip

The Windows 8 Task Manager contains detailed information on the history of your wireless apps. In this application, you can check your broadband connection to determine how much data has been used, see connection times, and check whether an application is metered or not. This information is found on the App History tab.
