Forget the retro-blast design language even with derivation of the legendary D-Type and E-Type contemporary bodywork covering its aluminum-alloy chassis, 2014 Jaguar F-Type is all new and for now. As far as the rumor spread, the new F-Type also will come only in roadster form, but the coupe version is considered still possible as the company has not officially confirmed.
Exterior
As the all new model for this year, 2014 Jaguar F-Type turn back to its 2-seats form since left it for a decade. The company claims to revive the legendary E-Type look to the newest sport sedan, but it seems like a hard thing to do, proven by its large trapezoidal grille instead of the oval one that has been a signature for the E-Type. One thing that could really represent the E-Type look is its folding fabric tops. The F-Type shows its maturity by smoother shape of the bodywork with Corvette and Maserati’s influence to the flanked dual air intake on the front part. The smooth body work then continue to the rear area where the baguette-shaped LED tail lamps are set, bulging with the round insets as what the E-Type looks like.
Interior
Compared to the XK model, 2014 Jaguar F-type’s cabin is more environmental-focused. The biggest change inside is pointed by the dash that hosted large Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) touch screen as variety display, including navigation and infotainment. The driver will be spoiled by a grab handle to divide the driver and passenger area, more focus given to the driver by the differentiation in the grain on the instrument cluster, which featured tachometer and speedometer dials, and center console. Your driving experience will also be accommodated by the manual fore-and-aft control sport seats, while full-power option is also available. More bolstered seats also available if you ordered for “performance” seats.
Engine
Supposed to compete with Porsche 911, 2014 Jaguar F-Type will not disappoint you in term of performance. Its entire supercharged engine will feature 8-speed ZF automatic transmission that allows you to be manually shifted it through the steering-wheel-mounted paddles. Two versions of 3.0 L V6 engine will be planted to the core of the F-type, the first one will deliver 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, while another, the upgraded one, will give higher power of 380 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. The biggest power will come from the 5.0 L V8 engine, where 495 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque is developed. That is why this car is faster than 2014 Audi A5 performance.
Price
2014 Jaguar F-Type’s price ranges from $69,000 to $92,000.
