Tesla Roadster 2.5
Star-Quality Sportscar
Most of the 2,500 units of this limited
edition of the Tesia Roadster are already on roads worldwide. Some of the lucky
owners of this electric sports car (which was sold out in North America)
include Google founders Larry Page and Sergej Brin, as well as Arnold
Schwarzenegger. With a maximum range of 340km and maximum speed of 201 km/h,
Tesia is definitely the highest-performance electric car and is also the most
expensive. This nippy little car costs just under $124,112. In contrast to the
unbeatable battery capacity of 56 kWh, the charging time of around 18 hours is
quite inconvenient. Sadly, that's part of the package.

Renault Kangoo ZE
French Workhorse
The
Kangoo ZE is the world leader in electric commercial vehicles that are mass
produced
The Kangoo ZE is the world leader in
electric commercial vehicles that are mass produced. It's no wonder that the
pioneer in e-cars has won numerous awards such as the trophy for
"International Van of the Year 2012". The minivan has a range of up
to 170km without support from a combustion engine. The speed is limited to 130
km/h, and the charging time using a common power point is about 8 hours. It
costs around $10,955 more than the petrol version, plus $105 as the monthly
battery rental. This means the operating cost of a commercial vehicle has to be
calculated differently to the way operating costs are accounted for with traditional
vehicles.

Fisker Karma Ecostandard
Racer With Petrol Backup
the
Fisker Karma is an electric car with a range extender
Like the Opel Ampera, the Fisker Karma is
an electric car with a range extender. If the maximum electric range of 80
kilometers is exceeded, the range extender powers up and adds another 400
kilometers to the distance. The car can reach a maximum speed of 153 km/h on
electric power exclusively; with the range extender, it can even reach 200 km/h
mark. The smart touch is that the roof of the Karma has solar cells, which
helps the battery to retain its charge for longer. Small-volume manufacturer
Fisker still needs to figure out its quality control problems: there already
have been incidents which required products to be recalled to the factory.

Tazzari Zero
An Unsafe, Expensive Minicar
The
Zero is actually very noisy when it gains momentum
For three years, this Italian industrial
enterprise has been manufacturing a single e-car, the Tazzari Zero, The chunky
mini-car is a two-seater and looks like a car out of a comic strip. It is
available in three versions with different accessories. The battery of the car
needs to be charged for 9 hours with a 220 volt power outlet for it to be able
to reach a range of 140km at a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Even though Zero is
costlier than the Smart, it lacks the basic safety features: it does not eve
have airbags or ABS. Additionally, it also lacks one of the biggest advantages
of electric cars- silence. The Zero is actually very noisy when it gains
momentum.
