Kawasaki KX250F / KX450F

The revamped KX250F features a new Showa Separate Function Fork (SFF) with larger-diameter 48mm inner fork tubes, dual injector Digital Fuel Injection system and fortified internal engine components. The 450 benefits from revised engine tuning, launch control, interchangeable ignition maps and adjustable handlebar and foot-pegs. A new Kayaba Pneumatic Spring Fork (PSF) uses compressed air instead of main springs, which Kawasaki claims reduces weight, improves bottoming resistance and provides easier tuning.

KTM 50SX Mini / 50 SX / 65SX

KTM 50SX Mini / 50 SX / 65SX

Liquid-cooled two-stroke engines power KTM's two smallest Moto Crossers. The 50SX has a single-speed transmission with adjustable automatic clutch, while the 65SX has a six-speed gearbox. The standard 50 rolls on 12- and 10-inch wheels but the 50SX Mini offers the littlest racers 10-inch wheels and a low 558 mm seat height. The 65 has 14 and 12 inchers. Among the upgrades for 2012 were a new throttle grips for the 50, stiffer four-piston front brake calipers on the 65, and redesigned WP fork and shock for both machines.

KTM 85SX

KTM 85SX

KTM's 85SX is a serious race machine and has been significantly updated to maintain a competitive edge. KTM says the engine has been completely overhauled, including a more compact cylinder and centrifugally controlled exhaust valve, resulting in more efficient cylinder charging. The shock and 43 mm inverted fork have completely new damping settings and are fully adjustable. It has a new chrome-molybdenum steel frame and aluminum bolt-on sub-frame.

KTM EXC-F/ EXC

KTM’s $10,599 EXC-F 350 and $10,999 EXC 500 Enduros had a host of changes for 2012, including extensive engine upgrades, new frame, PDS shock, electric start system, wheels, air box, bodywork and more durable taillight/ license plate holder. This year the 350 has a new clutch, stiffer frame and lighter, die-cast engine cases. CNC-machined wheel hubs are new on the 500 and on all KTMs, as is the slimmer bodywork with updated graphics.

KTM 690 Enduro R/ 990 Adventure Baja

KTM 690 Enduro R/ 990 Adventure Baja

The 690 Enduro R has a new electronic engine management system for 2013 which provides the rider with three different settings for power delivery. The tank fairings have been redesigned and there is a re-angled aluminum handlebar. The 990 Adventure Baja is a limited edition big-bore dual sport with an array of off-road-ready equipment such as LED auxiliary lights, Dunlop 908 RR tires, radiator guard, tank bag, and exclusive paint and graphics. A completely new Adventure is expected to debut sometime in 2013.

KTM SX two-stroke

KTM SX two-stroke

The 125 SX, 150SX and 250SX are two-stroke Moto Crossers with 21- and 19-inch wheels and 48 mm inverted WP forks. The 250 has a five-speed transmission while the 125 and 150 are both six-speeds. All three have revised suspension settings, with shorter shock lengths, and the same bodywork revisions as the rest of the KTM line. The 250 has a Moto Tassinari VForce4 reed block, the narrower Damped Diaphragm Steel (DDS) clutch from the 450SXF, new clutch cover and stiffer fork springs.

KTM SX-F four-stroke

For 2013 the 250SXF has a new, 350SXF-inspired engine, with a shorter stroke, bigger bore and intake valves and a counter balancer that runs on the same shaft as the water pump and timing chain. The 250 is now electric start only, like the 350 and 450, and the two smaller SXFs have redesigned exhaust systems. Among the 350's engine upgrades are a new cylinder head, die-cast cases and the throttle body is now two mm larger at 44 mm. The 450SX-F Factory Edition has many refinements aimed at race track success.

The $4,999 KX100 is designed to bridge the gap encountered by budding racers between the smaller KXs and the full-on 250 race machines. It has a 99 cc two-stroke engine and the same brakes as the KX85. The inverted 36 mm cartridge fork has 18-way compression damping, and the Uni-Trak shock can be adjusted by four-way compression and 16-way rebound damping, as well as for spring preload. A generous 275 mm of travel at both ends allows plenty of room for fine-tuning.
