Windows 8 : Managing Content - The Picker (part 2) - To open a file or files, To view an alphabetical directory of your folders

3. To open a file or files

1. Tap or click through the folder hierarchy until you find the file or files you want to open.

2. Tap or click the file or files.

3. Tap or click the Open button.

The file or files open in whatever app is the default tile-based app for that file type. Tt is the Music app.

 shows a selection of songs (with check marks), and an info box that appears when you move the cursor over an item.

4. To select a file or files

• Tap or click the file or files to select them.

• Tap or click the Select All link to select all items in the folder.

• Tap or click a selected file to deselect it.

• Tap or click Clear Selected to deselect all selected files.

5. To view an alphabetical directory of your folders

Click one of the lettered Folder or Directory buttons .

 This directory takes you to folders that start with the letter you select.


Tip

Use the Home and End buttons to go to the first and last items in a folder, respectively, and use the Up and Down arrow keys to move up or down the list.
