The address bar in the tile-based
interface allows you to enter an address or URL (Uniform Resource
Locator) using touch. It works using your mouse as well. When you touch
or click the address bar, it changes to look like it does in Figure 1.

When you start to enter text into the address bar, it changes to look like it does in Figure 2.
As you enter text, Windows 8 suggests sites you might want to go to
based on your history, well-known sites, and auto-entry. This is an
option you can disable, but it’s useful here because you can click one
of the choices if it’s what you want. On a touch-sensitive display, the
keyboard will open to allow you to enter text into the address bar.

Once you’ve entered the address, click the
Forward button or press Enter to go to the address. As the site loads,
the address bar changes to Figure 3:
You see a dot animation, and the Refresh button changes to an X. Tap or
click X to stop the page load; the X changes back to the Refresh button.

The address bar supports Clipboard operations: Copy and Paste, as well as a new command called Paste And Go.
To view Clipboard commands
• Tap and hold the address bar.
• Right-click the address bar .
The address bar Clipboard menu features a new command called Paste And Go.
Tip
Paste And Go is equivalent to pasting content into the address bar and then tapping the Forward button or pressing Enter.
