River
Island has just unveiled their new Holloway Road Summer 2014 Collection. The
British retailer has commented on the new designs which are all part of
theirspecial edition heritage line. The new pieces have a tropical inspired
feel and the company say that they wished to avoid the current 'heritage' trend
that has swept menswear as of late and opted to instead inject a retro twist in
to vacation-wear, giving the collection a new spin. A spokesperson for the
company stated that they aimed to create a fresh new look for the new
season: “We wanted to take the collection somewhere fresh this time and
avoid going too ‘heritage’. For high summer we drew upon what we like to call
‘retro vacation’!
Inspired
by tropical prints taken from postcards, the company have opted to create
bright, fun pieces for the Summer range that are also functional as well as
fashionable. Including a full range of printed t-shirts, sweaters, jackets,
graphic shirts and skinny jeans, the new designs also set out to highlight the
wearable "workwear pieces" that they have on offer: "We
offset postcard style graphic prints with a heady injection of colour to
breathe new life in to the range and highlight those more traditional workwear
pieces the collection is known for.” Although heavy with printed pieces, the
collection is balanced with some classic, simple items such as a black bomber
jacket, denim shorts and loafers that make great summer wardrobe staples
alongside some of the more statement pieces.
The
collection is already available online and in River Island stores.
