The standard interior equipments of 2014 Ford Explorer are the Ford’s MyKey parental controls, full power accessories, cruise control, air-conditioning, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 6-speaker sound system, CD player and auxiliary audio jack. The optional features for the S model will be the Sync voice-command electronics interface which has the Bluetooth and iPod interface and Bluetooth along with the steering-wheel audio controls. The Explorer SE model provides color-keyed mirrors and door handles, keyless entry keypad, privacy tinted glass, 4-inch multi-function screen, Sync system, reclining rear seats, satellite radio and steering-wheel audio controls. The SEL model includes heated side-view mirrors, one-touch up/down for all windows, auto-dimming rearview mirror, MyFord Touch electronics interface, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, interior ambient lighting, 8-way power driver seat and 9-speaker sound system.

Exterior

The Explorer has been equipped with 17 inches steel wheels while the SE trim provides 17 inches alloy wheels, automatic headlights and fog lamps. The optional exterior features for the SE trim will be the 18 inches wheels, power panoramic sunroof and power lift-gate system. If you choose the Parking Technology package, you will have the automated parallel parking assist, front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera and panoramic sunroof.

Engine

The engine of Explore model is the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that can generate 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft. of torque. The SE and SEL trims are powered by the turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-4 that can produce 178 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. There will be also the optional engine choice on SE and SEL models namely the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 that can makes the 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission for the S model is a 6-speed automatic transmission with the front-wheel drive system only.

The price of 2014 Ford Explorer may start from $22,470, the SE model costs $25,070, the SEL will cost you about $28,170 and the top Titanium model is priced at $30,370 (more expensive than 2013 BMW 320i). The key competitor of this crossover SUV is the 2014 Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX 5, and Kia Sportage.
