The 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid Concept is a compact four doors sedan that has made its world debut at the Shanghai Motor Show .The Fusion name brings back memories of the 60’s and 70’s cars that were popular rally racing cars or the popular selling cars from the 80’s and 90’s. The nameplate is still very big in China where older cars command a premium. The Fusion Hybrid is looking to assist the automaker in gathering more sales in the Chinese market as one of the company’s most important markets. With China’s growing middle-class, the company intends to get into the market early to stay in the minds of potential buyers.
Interior
The interior design and features of 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid Concept has not been revealed. But there are thoughts that its trim levels will be really similar to the Focus which include top quality materials and advanced Sync feature, heated side-view mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, MyFord Touch electronics interface, leather upholstery, eight-way power driver seat and 9-speaker sound system, remote start system, keyless ignition/entry, ambient lighting, leather upholstery and the Sony audio system.
Exterior
The Fusion Hybrid Concept has the similar exterior styling with some other recent Fords for example the original Focus and Escort. At the front, you will see the large front grille of Aston Martin that sets the styling tone for the car and contoured lines that flow smoothly from front to back. The Fusion Hybrid will boast angular tail-lights which have turn signals that flow with the lines of the rear of this car. The flowing lines will give the car the feel of a continuous design flow. This time around, the Fusion Hybrid will come with 4 doors which should make it a practice choice for young buyers in the Chinese market. As a matter of fact, Ford’s Melbourne-based design centre was involved in developing the overall appearance of this new Escort Concept which is a concept 4-doors sedan for now.
Engine
In terms of performance and powertrain, Fusion Hybrid Concept may come with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder option with 160 hp with a possible EcoBoost choice which could be the basis for a higher-performance variant with total power of 270 hp (faster than 2014 Subaru Forester but it’s slower than 2013 Dodge Charger Daytona and 2014 Ferrari GTE Concept).
Price
The price range of 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid Concept has been unveiled yet but it’s expected to be announced closer to launch of the production car. The key competitors of this sedan are 2014 Nissan Sentra and 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer.
