3. Add and Edit a Picture
To add a picture to a text editing control,
place the cursor where you want the picture to be added and switch to
the Insert tab in the Editing Tools ribbon. Open the drop-down menu
under the button to expose the options to upload an image from your
computer (From Computer), select an image somewhere else on the web
using its address (From Address), or select a picture that was already
uploaded to the site (From SharePoint), as shown in Figure 6.
This last option is not always available and might be either missing
from the menu or disabled, depending on the configuration of the site.
The following sections describe these options in detail.
FIGURE 6 The Picture button and the drop-down menu.
After you add a picture to the page, click the picture to expose the Image ribbon (see Figure 7).
On this ribbon you see the Change Picture button, which works like the
Picture button. You also have the option to set the alternative text
for the image (for users whose browsers do not support images, or in
case the image cannot be loaded) using the Alt Text box. You can also
configure the image’s size by typing a custom size, and you can resize
by dragging and dropping the borders of the image.

Use a Picture from Your Computer
To use a picture you have on your computer in
a page, choose the From Computer option in the Picture drop-down menu
described in the preceding section. This opens the Select Picture
dialog, which allows you to specify the picture to upload from your
computer and the library in SharePoint to upload it to.
Note
If the From SharePoint option is not
available in the site you are using, From Computer is the default
behavior for the Picture button, so you can simply click the button
instead of opening the drop-down menu.
You choose the file you want by
clicking the Browse button, choosing the library, and clicking OK to
upload. Depending on the settings for the library you chose, a dialog
might ask for the picture’s properties. After you fill in the required
properties and click Save, the picture is uploaded to the library and
added to the page.
