Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition – At Frankfurt Motor Show which is gonna be held this fall, the Stuttgart-based automaker has confirmed to bring their new performance-oriented vehicle line ups, including 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo, 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S, and the most powerful on the line ups 2014 Porsche 911 GT3. Full details about the three new vehicle have been thrown to the media, but surprisingly it turns out that the company will bring another vehicle to the show and also bring it to the dealer by the end of this year, not an all new model or the next generation one, but a special 911 model to celebrate 50th anniversary of the 911’s Porsche line ups.
Exterior
Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition will be offered in three impressive colors, Graphite Grey, Black Monochrome, and Lighter Geyser Grey Metallic. The special 911 is more like a combination of 911 Carrera S’ rear-wheel drive with wide body of 911 Carrera 4 models. All 911 50th Anniversary Edition will be attached by special 50th Anniversary badge on the lid. The special car also gets other distinctive exterior feature to boast its exclusivity, including front air inlets with chrome accents, Porsche’s dynamic light system which consists of bi-xenon headlights and dynamic cornering lights, high-gloss window frames, sporty mirrors and door panels. 20-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black paint with machine-polished center also fitted in to the car’s profile. People will directly recognize that the wheels actually represent the legendary Fuchs wheels that featured in the first 911 back then in 1963.
Interior
The back-to-basic theme of Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition seems to continue to the cabin, where the nostalgic comes from the main gauges graphic that represent the original 911s with that basic green-on-black motif, white pointer, and silver caps. 60s era atmosphere is strengthened by the Pepita plaid design covering either the standard 14-way or 18-way power sport seats or sport seats plus the center panels while the rest decoration also fit best with the retro sensation.
Engine
The old stuff should stop on the upper part, because under the hood, Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition will use the most update 3.8 L V6 engine. Like the other Porsche 911’s line ups, it will run from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds with its 400 hp and reach top speed of 186 mph with standard seven-speed manual transmission. The company also offers power kit option that will make more power to 430 hp and including seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and Sport Chrono package which bring it from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
Price
Typical of special-occasion car, Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition will be manufactured limitedly only for 1,963 units, which represents the year where the 911 model is first debuted, with base price of $125,050. It is more expensive than 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet.
