We each have some sort of soundtrack to our lives, a collection of music we love to listen to when we relax, when we’re planning something fun, when we want to be creative, when we hope to create a romantic mood. Windows 8 includes the Music app to give you access to a world full of tunes, no matter what your style might be.

>>>step-by-step: Getting Started with the Music App

The Music app is displayed as a tile on your Windows 8 Start screen, and you can access it by tapping or clicking the app tile. Once you open the app, you’ll find a screen similar to the Windows Store, where you can scroll through the various categories of tunes and purchase and download new music.

1. On the Windows 8 Start screen, tap or click the Music app tile. The Music app opens on your screen.

Previewing an Album

When you click or tap Play Preview at the top of an album’s song list, a 30-second sample of each of the songs on the album begins to play. If you click a specific song and then click Preview, only the sample for that song will play.
