We each have some sort of soundtrack to our
lives, a collection of music we love to listen to when we relax, when
we’re planning something fun, when we want to be creative, when we hope
to create a romantic mood. Windows 8 includes the Music app to give you
access to a world full of tunes, no matter what your style might be.
>>>step-by-step: Getting Started with the Music App
The Music app is displayed as a tile on
your Windows 8 Start screen, and you can access it by tapping or
clicking the app tile. Once you open the app, you’ll find a screen
similar to the Windows Store, where you can scroll through the various
categories of tunes and purchase and download new music.
1. On the Windows 8 Start screen, tap or click the Music app tile. The Music app opens on your screen.
2. Scroll to the right to see all the categories in the Music app: Spotlight, Collection, and Music Marketplace.
>>>step-by-step: Listening to Music Previews
When you find an artist you love in the
Music app, you can listen to a preview of song or an album, buy the
album, or learn more about the artist.
1. Tap or click a tile that shows an artist you’d like to listen to.
2. Select the Show All link to read more about the artist.
3. Tap or click Albums to display all albums created by this artist.
4. Tap or click an album you’d like to preview.
5. You can preview the album by tapping or clicking Play Preview.
6. If you know you want to buy the album, tap or click Buy Album.
7. If
you want to preview a specific song, tap or click the song and then
select Preview. The music begins to play, and the Music apps screen
reappears.
8. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or right-click to display the music controls.
Previewing an Album
When
you click or tap Play Preview at the top of an album’s song list, a
30-second sample of each of the songs on the album begins to play. If
you click a specific song and then click Preview, only the sample for
that song will play.
