Chances are that much of the work you’ll do
with Windows Explorer will have to do with finding, organizing, and
sharing your files. You probably work with document files, picture
files, music files, video files, and more. Knowing how to locate,
select, copy, move, sort, and get information about your files is an
important part of staying organized and up-to-speed with all the data
you’re collecting.
>>>step-by-step: Finding Files and Folders
It is super simple to find the files and
folders you’re looking for in Windows Explorer. You can enter a word or
phrase in the Search box for a simple search, or refine your search by
filtering the results for a specific date, kind of file, size, or other
file properties.
1.
Begin by tapping or clicking the library (for example, Documents, Music,
Pictures, Podcasts, or Videos) or the drive where you want to search.
2. Tap or click in the search box and type a word or phrase to describe what you’re searching for.
3. In the
Refine group of the Search Tools Search tab, tap or click a search
filter if you want to apply one: Date Modified, Kind, Size, or Other
Properties.
4. Tap or click the filter options to narrow the search.
5. Select the search result you want to see.
Finding Specific File Types
When you want to find
files in a specific format—for example, .jpg, .wmv, .docx, or .mp3—use
the Type filter in the Other Properties tool in the Refine group. When
you click Type, Windows Explorer displays a list box of file formats you
can choose to narrow your search, and you can tap or click the one that
fits what you’re searching for.
>>>step-by-step: Selecting Files and Folders

folders easily.

have previously selected multiple files (by pressing Ctrl and clicking
