RI
Cycle by River Island is a small capsule collection created by the British high
street store for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 season. Aiming to make
cyclists feel comfortable without having to sacrifice style while on the road,
the functional pieces are for urban cyclists who don't want to dress up in full
cycling gear as they commute in their daily lives, no matter what the occasion.
The items are thus made to look stylish but also have hidden features that make
cycling easier and safer. The collection looks just as good when the wearer
isn't on board a bike and works in a few key trends to make the pieces stand
out further.
River
Island's menswear designer Elizabeth Taylor commented that they wanted to make
cyclists feel more stylish while on the road everyday: “The collection is
really created for the urban cyclist, whether it’s down the pub or commuting to
work. While uncompromising on style, they can feel confident they look the part
while key features include unique performance detailing and streamlined fashion
silhouettes which move with the body, enhancing the ease, comfort and fun of
cycling.”
With
creative details such as reflective trims and water resistant features, River
Island have thought of everything to make sure cyclists still feel safe and
visible while they cycle and they're also promoting the environmentally
friendly method of transportation. The capsule collection even features
waistbands that can accommodate a bike lock - now that is innovative and
thoughtful design at work!
The
collection is due in stores from March 2014.
