British-based
company Topman have launched their new season Limited collection for
Spring/Summer 2014. Titled 'Southsider', the designs take their inspiration
from America’s original motorcycle clubs with results that are reminiscent of
a classic James Dean inspired look. A representative commented on the new
collection, stating that they wished to pay homage to the trips taken by
motorcycle clubs across America: “The first of our spring/summer Ltd
trends takes inspiration from the early American motorcycle clubs and their
long dusty rides along the west coast of America. Our homage to these
bastians of the road also includes a good dose of nostalgic Americana in the
form of stars and stripes inspired prints.”
Topman
also wrote about the designs, stating that the pieces celebrate a sense of
being completely carefree and hitting the road with no troubles:"This
collection celebrates that carefree time and all the summer riding gear that
goes with it. Built on the corner stones of the classic Americana look, the
collection is all about channelling your inner rebel without a cause (and
looking great whilst you're doing it)."
On
the actual clothing itself, Topman have gone down quite a timeless route:
"Chambray shirts in primary colours, lots of denim (raw or dark wash of
course), varsity-inspired jersey pieces and tons of American motifs and prints
- stars and stripes anyone? All sartorially paying homage to the land that
bought us James Dean, The Fonz and the culinary masterpiece: burgers and
fries."
The
new Topman Limited collection is now on sale both in stores and online.
