Italian
designer Roberto Cavalli's son Daniele has decided to step down from his
position as designer for the Cavalli menswear collections. Reports suggest that
Roberto will now take over designing the line himself. Cavalli's CEO
Gianluca Brozzetti and chief operating officer Carlo Di Biagio both also
decided to leave the label recently and the company is reportedly preparing to
go up for sale. A source leaked that Cavalli may be in talks with London
group Permira who are interested in purchasing a majority stake in the Cavalli
company.
Cavalli
previously gushed about Daniele following in his footsteps. The designer said
in an interview that his son is "special" and "talented"
and it's amazing to see him work on his own because he grew up watching him
design and they learned a lot together: "Daniele and I have always
been very close, and I knew that he would follow me one day. He is extremely
talented. I can see how much he tries to invent something special. It's
fantastic to listen to him because when I speak to him I feel that he's like me
when I was younger. He has lived and breathed and grown up in my studio, so his
apprenticeship started at a very young age!"
Previously
speaking on his design efforts, Daniele commented that the details are
important when it comes to fashion, but he also likes to examine the
market: “Its all about the details! The devil is in the detail! I don’t
change my ideas because of the market. I look and I listen to the market but
the ideas remain my own. The most important thing is follow your instinct. It’s
the only true mix of your innermost feelings, education, culture and spirit.”
