Microsoft Word 2010 : Creating Mail Merge Documents - Creating a Data Document

When you make only one limited number of pieces in a fusion and mass mailing, or you cannot enter the discs one of the programs previously mentioned for use-and permanent then export them towards the magician of fusion and mass mailing to carry out the current task, you can employ the magician to create your receptive list. You can also employ Word to type a document of data manually. The first line of the document should contain the field names of fusion separated by commas or labels (choose a format and are coherent in all the document). For example, FirstName, LastName, address, city, state, zipper. Note that the field names cannot contain spaces. At the end of the line of field name, press enter. Enter all the data for a given disc separated by commas on the lines which follow, has a presentiment of enter after each entry record. When all the entries are written, save the document like textual file and import it like existing file in stage 3 of 6 in the magician of fusion and mass mailing.

Create a Data Document

1. On Step 3 of 6 in the Mail Merge task pane, click the Type a new list option.

2. Click Create.

3. Input your information for the first record, and then click New Entry.
4. Continue to input additional records; click New Entry after each one until all records have been entered, and then click OK.

The Save Address List dialog box opens, displaying the My Data Sources folder.

5. Enter a name, and then click Save to save your work.

The Mail Merge Recipients dialog box opens, displaying the data source for the merge.

6. Edit the recipient data (if necessary), and then click OK.

7. Click Next: Write your letter on the task pane to display Step 4 of 6.
