Spring is coming to US and so does the new generation 2014 Porsche Cayman. It’s good that for 2014 model year, the Cayman’s price has no significant increase, but what if it also happen to the vehicle it self? Though the company said that 2014 Porsche Cayman is completely a new model, that significant changes which should be appeared to prove seem to not exist. You will insist that there’s nothing new to the Cayman if you don’t pay so much attention to it.
Exterior
When the company said it is all-new model, they may refer to new cooling air intakes which are integrated to four daytime running lights. This element could be the only one to help you to distinguish the new Cayman and the outgoing one from the front part. On the rear side, luckily it receives more updates but not as much as we expected for the so called all-ne model. The new Cayman gets new aluminum boot lid, an LED brake lamps located on the upper edge of the rear window, and new rear spoiler dispersing steeper angle. New 19-inch wheels with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) System also featured as standard option, while you could have the 20-inch Carrera-based and exclusive 20-inch Carrera Classic Sport Techno with bi-color style. This car is more stylish than 2013 Lincoln MKZ. 2014 Porsche Cayman alos 66 lbs lighter than 2014 Porsche Boxter.
Interior
More updates found in the cabin, somehow decrease the disappointing of the all-new label that stuck by the company. The driver area turns out to be more comfortable and sportier than its predecessor, with gear and steering wheel stored in short distance from one and another. All buttons and functions on the instrument panels also become more accessible, giving more driving-focus for the driver. Here’s the fun fact, you can make your new Cayman’s interior based on your own preference since the company provides long options for the colors and materials for the cabin’s personalization. Good enough as an apology of the disappointing changes outside.
Engine
Standard 2014 Porsche Cayman will be equipped by 2.7 L V6 engine that delivers 275 hp, while the Cayman S will get bigger 3.4 L with 325 hp. Here we see that the power is increased by 10 hp for the standard Cayman and 5 hp for the Cayman S compared to the previous one. Both cars will use standard six-speed manual transmission while seven-speed PDK transmission is available for updates as well as SportChrono Package to boost your acceleration.
