4. Managing Messages

RSS feed messages are much like e-mail messages you receive in your Inbox. You can mark them as read or unread, delete them, download full article content, move them from one folder to another, and delete the items. You can also easily share a feed with others by sending the feed in an e-mail message. The recipient can then click an icon in the message to add the feed to his or her Outlook RSS subscriptions.

Mark and Unmark RSS Messages

  1. Right-click a message.

  2. Choose Mark As Unread to mark the message as unread. Choose Mark As Read to mark the message as having been read.

Move Messages Between Folders

  1. Click the message you want to move.

  2. Drag the message to the target folder.

  3. Or click Move on the Home tab of the ribbon.

  4. Select the target folder.

Tip

You can copy a message rather than move it, preserving the message in the original location. To copy a message, press and hold the right mouse button, and then drag the message to the destination and choose Copy from the pop-up menu.

Download a Full Article

  1. Select a message.

  2. Click the RSS button on the ribbon.

  3. Choose Download Content and then Download Article.

  4. After the article has downloaded, double-click the attachment to view the article in your Web browser.

Tip

Downloading an RSS article is useful when you want to keep a copy of the article on your computer. If you’re interested only in reading the article but not keeping it, just click the View Article link in the Preview Pane to open the article in your Web browser. Or open the RSS item and click the View Article link in the body of the item to view the article. Reading the article online rather than downloading it saves a little bit of disk space.
