Pharrell
Williams and his towering Vivienne Westwood hat have been strangely inseparable
as of late and the accessory has become a big talking point all over the
internet ever since it first made an appearance. The 'Happy' singer first
showed up in the hat to the 2014 Grammy Awards and was also seen at a G-Star
Raw event, an Oscars party and even more places wearing it. The statement hat
immediately got tongues wagging and no one knows why it has become such a big
talking point - except that you just can't help but look at it!
Now,
Pharrell has decided to turn the stories in to his own charitable gesture by
putting the designer hat - which is from Westwood's 1982 collection titled
'Buffalo Girls' - up for auction in a bid to raise funds for the
'One Hand to Another' charity. Pharrell tweeted that someone will have the
chance to own the famous piece and he has been surprised by how much people
have bid it up to already: "I'm auctioning off my hat from the
Grammys to benefit From One Hand to Another… #PharrellsHat. We started my hat
auction at $200 (the price I paid for it) and it's already up to over
10K?"
Pharrell,
who also owns the hat in a grey colour way, has owned the hat since 2009 but
only recently debuted it to the world. He said that he bought it on a whim
because he thought it was an interesting design: "I don't know, I saw
it five years ago and I just thought it was cool."
