Windows 8 : Printing in Modern Apps

Printing in the tile-based UI is an app-specific function handled through the Devices interface. When you open the Devices charm, the devices you see are context sensitive. Whatever app or experience is currently open on your device, Windows 8 will populate the Devices pane with compatible devices. That is, each device is capable of printing the data that is output from the app.

To print from a Modern app

1. Press Image+K to open the Devices charm

2. Open the app that you want to print from.

3. Press Ctrl+P to open the Print bar .

4. Tap or click the printer you wish to use; the Print pane displays .

5. Tap or click the print options you desire.

6. To explore additional settings, tap or click the More settings link ; return to the main Print panel using the Back button.

7. Tap or click the Print button to complete the operation.


Tip

Look for Print buttons in the interfaces of tile-based apps and in the Apps bar.
